SONGS WITH RAIN IN THE TITLE

Hello folks,

I had this sudden urge to inform you of my top records with rain in the title as it has got to be one of the most dreariest days ever today!

Anyhow, I recommend these to you all so if you're fed up with hearing Dido and David Gray on the radio as they always seem to play them on rainy days, dig these out!

6) BJ Thomas - RAINDROPS KEEP FALLING ON MY HEAD

Yes, one of the cracking tunes from "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid."
This unfortunately didn't get the best chart success over here but still seems to be a tune which everyone remembers. One of the most catchy and uplifting songs ever- a classic never dies!

5) LIGHTHOUSE FAMILY - RAINCLOUD

At a time when the charts were being dominated by the Spice Girls and Boyzone, some of us sought salvation with groups like Blur, Texas, James, the Verve, Supergrass and if you were like me, the Lighthouse Family! I love this tune, it reminds me of being in Year 6, as does "Sunchyme" by Dario G and "I'll be missing you" by Puff Daddy but that's beside the point! Guess the year folks? 1997!

"Raincloud" has got to be one of the best songs of the late 90's and unlike some of the Lighthouse Family's other tunes like "Lifted" and "Ocean Drive," it hasn't really been overplayed. Always a great tune to hear on an overcast day like today because it still maintains a summer sound.

4) THE CARPENTERS - RAINY DAYS AND MONDAYS

What a classic! There's no other way of describing this-one of Karen Carpenter's finest moments. I absolutely adore this record, as I adore most of their stuff. The Carpenters were probably one of the finest acts in the 1970s and all of their stuff is worth a look, or a listen!!

Bit of a sad song but I like it anyway.

3) THE CASCADES - RHYTHM OF THE RAIN

Probably one of my all-time favourite 60s records-really nice sound on this one. I'm sure it's been on a few soundtracks as well. Very catchy tune, most of your parents will probably remember it well. CLASSIC!

2) ERUPTION - I CAN'T STAND THE RAIN

Again- what a classic! One of my all-time favourite Disco records from the 1970s and here's a fact for you, it was the first record my Dad played on Real Radio. It was produced by the same guy who did all the Boney M records so if you like "Daddy Cool," "Rivers of Babylon" and of course "Sunny," (recently covered by the Boogie Pimps) you'll love this.
Very addictive tune- I urge you all to listen!

1) MADONNA - RAIN

Taken from one of her most critically SLAMMED albums, 1992's "Erotica," (the one all about sex basically), this slow jam has got to be one of her finest tunes from the 1990s. This one wasn't about her kinky habits though and is a forgotten gem IMHO. I have always loved this one.

RIGHT THEN, NEXT TIME WE HAVE A DREARY DAY LIKE TODAY, DIG THESE OUT AND I'M SURE THEY'LL UPLIFT THE MOOD.

Keep on groovin'

Nothing really...

Bit of a boring day today really.

Revising for damn AS modules but still listening to music-there has to be some benefit for using my time to revise I guess...

Anyway, if you have any questions about records or music in general or better still, want to have a discussion on something "of a musical nature," feel free to post away.

Don't take away the music and keep on groovin'

TREBLE D'S FIRST TOP 3

Hi folks,

Thought now was a good time to post my first ever top 3, if you will my record box of tunes which I have been spinning all this week.

At the moment, my top 3 is as follows:

1) STING - STOLEN CAR (You should be dancing)

What a tune- the first single from Sting's latest album has got to be one of his best solo efforts yet. There are a number of remixes including one from the Black Eyed Peas although I must admit, I prefer the standard radio edit, which Radio 2 are playing. Suffice it to say that Sting is a genius, one of our greatest singer/songwriters and this tune will be fondly remembered in the same league as "Message in a bottle" and "Englishman in New York."

2) THE 411 ft.Ghostface Killah - ON MY KNEES

Again, a summer smash I think. Entered the charts this week at Number 4, rather good if you ask me but it deserves to hit that top spot. Nice chilled out, soulful tune with a fantastic gueast appearance from Ghostface Killah to wind it up. Really catchy, especially after the 2nd or 3rd play and I urge you all to buy it!

3) GEORGE BENSON - LOVE X LOVE

I went to see George in the Cardiff International Arena last Saturday and the man is just pure class-this tune from his 1980 "Give me the night" album being Jazz at one of its finest moments. Cracking guitar solo and really smooth vocals. Check this one out-it's a summer classic!

THE MOTOWN

Have no fear, I plan on mentioning Motown a few times in the next few weeks or so.

Another feature I think I'll have is the Treble D's record box, a list of tracks which I have been playing all week and of course, we must have Treble D's recommended as well. More on that later.

I would like to say how annoyed I am that THE 411's "On my knees" only entered the chart at Number 4! That song is a classic of our time and deserves greater chart success. I urge you to go and purchase a copy of it-what a tune!

My other pet hate at the moment is this seemingly endless Frankie-Eamon tripe which seems to be clogging up the top spots in the charts at the moment. I anticipate that Eamon may knock Frankie off at some point and then Frankie will knock Eamon off again-always happens when the same song gets to the top spot by two different artists at the same time.
It's gonna become the Bryan Adams of our summer I fear and must be stopped!

I urge you all!

Keep the faith,

Treble D.

WELCOME

Hi SOUL BROTHERS/SISTERS

welcome to DAN'S DISCO DYNAMITE, the number one source for all Musical Mania.

This is the new generation of my music section on the old Teen Forum but alas that is no more. Still, it was time for a change and in this case, change is good.

Expect to see reviews of latest albums and singles from yours truly and if any of you have any questions about music, especially old music and for example want to know who sung that song, what record label it was on or whatever, give us a shout!

Keep on Dancing,

Treble D
